accede. I know not everyone on here is catholic so I didn’t go into too much detail so that its easier to understand and if any one on here is very, very, very, hardcore catholic and does not like the concept then I can’t guarantee you’d want to read this.

There was no apology the next day from Arthur. In fact, Merlin did not see him around at all until their next lesson, but he tried to put the incident to the back of his mind while he worked.
Arthur was evidently still angry, and hardly spoke while Merlin taught. Merlin just thought that he was embarrassed at his behaviour from that evening, and although Arthur still hadn't apologised months later, when they were still continuing his private tutoring, Merlin thought it was safe to move on and that Arthur had learnt the error of his ways.
It wasn't until nearly five months after he had started there Arthur started to get close again. Merlin thought he must have got over his horniness, until one day Arthur put his hand on his thigh again. He ignored it, because evidently Arthur had not gotten over his horniness then it seemed. They carried on as usual, with Arthur occasionally putting his hand on Merlin’s thigh almost every lesson until Merlin told him it was probably best he sat on the other side of the desk. His dreams were starting to be invaded with explicit, libidinous images again, and more often than not they involved Arthur, who only seemed to smirk when Merlin asked him to move as if he knew exactly what Merlin had been dreaming.
He may have stopped the hand to thigh conundrum, but he wasn’t able stop the ways Arthur would start to look at him during service, the cold eyes gone and replaced with intense, knowing ones, sending shivers up his spine for unknown reasons which in turn ended up causing him to try and avoid the Pendragons as best as he could at the end of each service, somehow failing successfully in his quest more or less every time.
“Father Emrys, whatever the rush?”
In the process of scuttling off to the rectory, he unfortunately got waylaid by Uther, with Arthur and Morgana in his wake.
“I was just off to, err…organise the Muirden wedding.”
“Muirden’s getting married? Really? With a face like his?”
“Morgana!” he flashed her a foul glare before returning to Merlin with a forced smile again.
“You work yourself too hard, Father Emrys, please do me the courtesy of joining me and my family for dinner this Sunday evening.”
“Oh I couldn’t possib-”
“Excellent, we’ll see you there.”
And before he could thank them, they were already striding out of the building.
“I’m gonna wish you good luck with that trio, you're gonna need it.”
Will joked, after shambling up beside him once he was done watching the scene from the column he was leaning against.
“Thanks,” Merlin replied humourlessly.
“Always a pleasure. Now, tell me more about this Muirden wedding.”
But apart from the Arthur problem, he had settled in well. He enjoyed his days there not only because of work, but because of the people. He would have breakfast with the nuns, lunch with the gravedigger Will and organist Lance, dinner with Gaius and the various towns people would always be in and out for a chat.
He had noticed Morgana at the breakfast table one day while eating with the nuns.
It seems Uther had managed to get her into the sisterhood after all, and although she hated the concept, he had noticed that she had made good friends with Gwen so far.
His duties were satisfying and filled up his time dearly, apart from confession hours. Not many people came in to confess a lot so he spent most of his time sitting there, waiting, and once someone did come they didn't usually have a confession that was much of a sin. Not that Merlin was one for gossip, he wouldn't want anyone to have a huge confession to make, but just once would he have liked to have had something blow him away in confession hours so that he wasn't so bloody bored.
He was starting to rethink about having a mind blowing confession that same Wednesday afternoon, when the mystery shadow on the other side of the screen gave their confession.
"Bless me father, for I have sinned. It had been six months since my last confession."
It was a male voice, one that he recognised but couldn't quite place without the face.
"What is it, my child?"
"I kissed someone."
"That’s not a sin," he chuckled.
"It was a man."
"Oh."
"And it was full on making out, but... I was thinking of another man while doing so."
Merlin didn't know quite what to say, he had always been crap at giving advice.
"I like men, but I don't think I’m a bad person. Am I bad?"
"Well, it's not a sin to be gay. Our free will is God's gift. As long as you don't act upon it, then no, you're not bad. Wait, you haven't had sex with this man have you?"
He had nothing against being gay, gay Catholics were fine, but gay priests wouldn’t go down quite as well.
Whoever it was on the other side quickly spluttered and replied with, "No, I, uh, haven't had any sex… with anyone at all," sounding rather embarrassed.
"Well, that’s alright then. You don't have a burden to fear my child."
"Thank you, Father, for your help. Although, just for future awareness, if I did have sex with a man, wouldn't I just be able to come back and confess for forgiveness?"
The question was asked in mock innocence, slightly irritating Merlin.
"You should not purposefully sin and think asking for absolution will cure all your troubles."
"But God forgives all, does he not?"
He didn't like what the stranger was getting at, whether they were joking or not.
"There is no sin too great that God cannot forgive."
"So it wouldn’t be so bad if I did sleep with a man then. Thank you Father, you have truly cleared everything up for me!"
And with that the mystery shadow left cheerfully with a spring in his step feeling better than when he had entered, and left Merlin in a stunned daze, asking himself "What in god's name just happened?!"
